Regina Calcaterra, New York Times best seller author of the highly-acclaimed Etched in Sand, is joined by her younger sister Rosie Maloney to present her latest book – Girl Unbroken, A Sister’s Harrowing Story of Survival from the Streets of Long Island to the Farms of Idaho.
(The book is to be released on October 18th.)
In this sequel to Etched in Sand, Regina chronicles the life of her younger sister, Rosie, who encounters childhood abuse and fights for survival as the five children of five different fathers make their way through their difficult lives. When Regina discloses information about her abusive mother to a social worker, she is separated from her younger siblings Norman and Rosie. After Rosie is kidnapped from foster care by her mother Cookie, she is beaten, abused emotionally and forced to work on the farm where Cookie resides in Idaho. Showing her true strength of character, Rosie perseveres until she can escape her nightmarish experience.
For over a decade Regina Calcalterra has served as a frequent commentator of policy and politics on FoxNews and CNBC and contributed op-eds to Newsday and other media outlets on national and local issues. She serves on the board of You Gotta Believe, an organization that works towards finding older foster children forever homes.
A reception sponsored by Colleen and Bud Konheim and a book signing with Regina and Rosie will follow.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
