Each November, the Library Foundation publishes Booknotes. The original purpose of the publication was to announce the events planned for the upcoming season. 2020 changed everything. Approaching the 2020-2021 season, we were not planning any programs. The challenge faced was how to fulfill an important part of our mission: to provide a literary and cultural center for the residents and visitors of Boca Grande.
We spoke to some Island writers, and before long we had 28 pages of poetry, essays, and book reviews. Patti Christakos designed the cover and Island Booknotes 2020 was published. The community responded with enthusiasm. Island Booknotes 2020 was reprinted to accommodate the demand. Read the Island Booknotes 2020
Island Booknotes 2021 was published and mailed in November. The magazine features information about the ten literary events planned, and once again, there are essays, poetry, and book reviews. We are grateful to the authors who contributed their wit and creativity to the second issue of Island Booknotes. Read the Island Booknotes 2021
